Bodega Bay + Armstrong Redwoods

After breakfast and sculpture-hunting in Sebastopol, we drove toward the coast to Bodega Bay, stopping along the way for oysters and a look at kitschy Hitchcock memorabilia at the Bodega Country store (Hitchcock's The Birds was filmed here). From there, it was a beautiful drive through farmland until we hit the coast. The coastline was foggy and gray and beautiful; down on the beach it was almost impossible to see more than a half-mile away.

From there, we drove a bit further up Highway 1, before taking a turn back toward Santa Rosa. We had one more stop planned for the afternoon, at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, where we set up a picnic lunch then walked through the park. The redwoods are known to be some of the tallest and oldest trees in existence, and it was really cool to be surrounded by them - talk about feeling small!

  1. Love your photos! I had a great time a Hitchcock "pilgrimage" to Bodega last year.

Never been to Armstrong Woods, will have to check it out!

  2. Came across this post thanks to Pinterest and I'm glad I did! I'm heading out towards Bodega this weekend for the first time and will definitely be checking out the redwoods at Armstrong!!
