Bridal Veil Falls + Provo, UT

Have you ever gotten so cold that your toes go completely numb and it takes a hot shower, plus dry wool socks, plus an extra hour of sitting by the fireplace to bring feeling back? Our feet felt like that after wading in the pool of water collecting at the bottom of Bridal Veil Falls near Provo, Utah. Mountain run off water tends to be very cold, which didn't stop a slew of kids from wading, splashing, and otherwise frolicking in the water. But coldness aside, the falls are very pretty - if you find yourself in this part of Utah, pull off the road for bit and enjoy the view. (Note: the falls were a bit hard to find, here is a Google map for your reference.)

Fun fact: according to Wikipedia, there are 23 waterfalls in the US called "Bridal Veil," and 18 more worldwide. Some people just can't resist the veil association!

After getting our aquatic fix, we continued on to Provo. This was another drive-through town for us and we didn't do much there, except have an AMAZING dinner at Communal - one of best dinners of the trip. We happened to come in on a day the chef was teaching a new seasonal menu to the kitchen staff, so we sat at the bar by the chef station, and enjoyed watching the inner workings of the kitchen while we dined. We had a great time talking with the kitchen crew! (If I recall correctly, we had a wild mushroom + manchego cheese crostini, green beans with pork belly, and pork with watermelon cubes, or something like that...)

  1. I love waterfalls... We ventured to some last year in a few hikes in the NC mountains. We plan to visit a few more big ones this year. They just amaze me. The sound..... is my fave. xoxo

  2. I'm so jealous of this post! When we moved from Arizona to Wyoming we drove past Bridal Veil and fell in love! We saw people hiking and were so jealous, wishing we had the time to get out and go check it out up close! This will count for now though, I suppose!
