Mesa Verde National Park, CO
The main reason anyone goes to Mesa Verde National Park is to tour one of the 600 cliff dwellings - these dwellings are from the ancestral pueblo people who lived there from AD 600 to 1300, and are some of the best preserved sites in the US.
We had a long drive day ahead of us so we decided not to wait for the next cliff dwelling tour. Instead, we took a drive through the Mesa Top Loop Road, where at certain lookouts we were able to get a great view of some cliff dwellings. In a word: unreal.
