Lake City, MN
After what seemed like endless driving through the crop fields of the Midwest, we made a quick stop in Lake City, MN. We grabbed some breakfast at a local diner in the sleepy downtown area, and took some time to enjoy the town's namesake, Lake Pepin, and the shore park. We learned that a lake can be a widening a river, where the current slows down significantly - and that's what Lake Pepin is: a wide part of the Mississippi River.
Lake City's claim to fame: it is known as "the birthplace of waterskiing."
Oh, and we spotted a cute family of ducks at the shore park - enjoy the animated gif at the bottom of the post.
